Newsletter 8/2015
In determining how best to approach this newsletter I was beset by a myriad of concerns. What are people interested in reading about? What are they concerned about, fascinated with, fearful of, anxious and grieving? There are so many topics that can be looked at due to the fact there are many people who have multiple interests. Grouping the issues can be done by age, sex, culture, geographic area, education, careers, relationships and finances. Additionally it can be done by illness, whether it’s medical, psychological and/or substance abuse. Other areas can be focused on technology, morals, ethics and religion.
In the beginning we heard stories of Adam and Eve. They began to learn and question what they saw, ate, how to relate and understand to each other and grow for better or worse. Learning began by tasting something new. We try new activities and develop new skills in an attempt to identify goals and dreams to advance. Learning is a prized ability because it opens doors to greater abilities and aspirations. We are driven to succeed in life, to live to the best of our abilities as fully as possible. Many people are unable to go beyond being able to meet their basic needs due to culture, financial hardship, economic deprivation and social problems.
We are fortunate to believe that the sky is not limiting and our minds can be open to finding out something new and making a change.
The goal of my newsletter is to impart information to help people make educated choices to benefit their goals, dreams, selves and address concerns that are troubling. It is not to be used exclusively in place of counseling nor replace medical advice or other treatment approaches. However the basis of my material is based on 30 years of experience as a clinical social worker and case manager. Therefore, the information is educational in purpose. My hope is you will develop a new glimmer of knowledge into yourself and are able to effect change that is positive, healthy and helpful.
If there are topics that you wish to learn about please contact me. I will respond by providing information that will assist you or refer you to specific references.
Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter and visit my website. I will be providing quarterly installments. I look forward to sharing information and assisting you in your journey.
