Welcome to my practice. My goal is to help you address your concerns and move forward from whatever has you troubled, stuck or conflicted. It is not easy to do but with patience, perseverance, and a willingness to try, WE will work together to achieve what is possible.
I will listen, ask questions for clarification and provide support. All of our conversations are filled with respect and acceptance. I am an active participant in our partnership to help guide you toward your goals using a thoughtful, thought-provoking or cognitive approach to problem-solving.
Over the past thirty-five years I have worked with many individuals from age five to the aged, addressing the following issues: anxiety, anger, depression, dementia, loss and guilt, shame, self-harm, trauma, complex medical conditions and understanding healthcare needs, stress, burnout, and many more issues.
It is difficult to seek help. I recognize the strength and courage it takes to reach out. You can feel safe, accepted, and listened to in our sessions. I provide a relaxed space for you to feel comfortable and unjudged, so that you can share thoughts & feelings that may be hard to say aloud. I place immense importance on building a strong therapeutic relationship during our initial sessions. Our partnership is a place to feel comfortable and supported and for you to build resilience and strength to overcome the challenges you face to grow stronger.
There are times you may feel lost, burdened, overwhelmed, stressed, sad and anxious – this is normal. Those are feelings we can work on together to help you improve your ability to better manage difficult, frustrating, and painful issues. I will guide you to help you gain greater clarity for the issues you want to address and develop a plan of action: helping you get in control of your feelings, behaviors, thoughts, and situation so that it is more manageable and less conflicted.
I believe that as we go through life, we sometimes hit bumps in the road and things become complicated, messy, and difficult to resolve. I believe in empowering individuals and guiding them on their path toward less stress and more enjoyment. I believe that once we smooth out the path, it is easier to see which way to move forward and develop the tools to do so.
I use a compassionate and non-judgmental approach utilizing a variety of treatment methods: insight-oriented, person-centered, and problem-solving approaches. These methods are tailored to match your specific needs, no one is the same. Our focus is based on your needs and wants.
Each individual comes to me with concerns, problems, confusion and a sense of feeling overwhelmed or loss. That is normal. It takes time to sort through the jumbled thoughts and feelings and identify what you want to focus on. I am here to provide support, be a guide and educator. I am an active participant during our sessions.
You can feel confident that whatever your issue is, we can talk about it and together we can figure out an approach to alleviate your suffering. Sometimes we need guidance while at other times we need someone to listen and hold space for us. It is possible that you are looking for a fresh take on your circumstances or have tried “everything” out there and are ready to give up. You may feel discouraged due to a history of patterns of behavior that interfered with your ability to reach your desired goals, needs, or wants. We can figure it out together for you to become healthy and heal and hope. I believe in helping you reach your goals by building confidence and motivation, helping you to regain a sense of purpose and skills to learn how to implement the steps more effectively.
